Our number one priority at Crown Jewels is to deliver safe and healthy produce t our valued customers. All of our food safety programs are continually reviewed and updated to insure that we are on the cutting edge of industry research, education and technology. To provide the highest standards, our in-house food safety department requires all of our growers and packers, whether foreign or domestic, to adhere to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) as formulated by the FDA/USDA. Key components to this program are sanitation, employee hygiene, irrigation water quality, safe fertilization and pesticide application, harvest and post harvest procedures.
To insure that GAP requirements are being followed, in addition to our on-site field inspectors, we require a third -party inspection of all ranches, harvest crews, packing facilities and cold storages. We have partnered with NSF-Davis Fresh to provide continuing education to our food safety department as well as our growers. |
